Community Conference

Building Inclusive Community Conference is an educational conference organized by community members and leaders to build skills and relationships in support of inclusion.

Last year, over 100 participants attended presentations, sharing stories with one another, and engaging in meaningful discussions on a variety of topics from presenters such as Youth Outlook, West40, and the Center for Independent Living.

Past topics include:

  • Empowering Gen Z through Post-Secondary Planning
  • Practicing Self-Care and Handling Stress
  • Supporting Transgender Youth and Adults
  • Unvarnished: Housing Discrimination in the Western Suburbs
  • Legitimate Protest or Hate Speech? Knows Your Rights Under the First Amendment
  • Understanding Judaism and Acts of Antisemitism
  • It’s All About Respect: Welcoming People with Disabilities
  • The Growing Latino Population in the Western Suburbs

The 5th Annual Building Inclusive Community Conference will be hosted by Lyons Township High School, 4900 Willow Springs Road, Western Springs, IL 60558 on February 8, 2025 and will feature workshops, lunch and a keynote address.

Organizers are seeking speakers to provide a 45-minute presentation on developing understanding and empathy through learning about issues in our community.
