Jazmin Lopez joined the Mental Health Commission of Lyons Township in 2021. Prior to joining MHCLT, Jazmin worked as the executive director of a small non-profit organization in Countryside, Illinois.
Jazmin’s experience in advocacy work began at the age of eighteen, when she became employed as a legal transcriptionist for DDV Law, a boutique law office in Orland Park, Illinois that focused on elder and disability law. From there, she worked as a paralegal consultant for small law offices in the Chicagoland area that practiced family and disability law. Her experience in family law inspired her to pursue mental health and domestic violence advocacy. Soon after, she worked as a domestic violence advocate for an agency in the western suburbs. In her role, Jazmin taught the domestic violence education program in English and Spanish, co-developed the emergency shelter’s Life Skills Program, and facilitated workshops on Self-Care.
Jazmin received a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from Dominican University and a master’s in human services from Concordia University. She is an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional and Mental Health First Aid trained.
Jazmin sits on the Village of Bridgeview’s Personnel Board and is a member of the Bridgeview Lions Club.
In 2024, Jazmin was recognized was recognized by The West Suburban Chamber of Commerce & Industry for being one of “30 under Forty” of the region’s young professionals who are making a deep impact in their profession and for the greater good of the community.
In her spare time, Jazmin enjoys traveling with her family, having dinner with friends, and reading.
